Some of the seized from the cottage home of Minev weapons are involved in the annual reenactments of the battles of Shipka. These are organized by the national club "Tradition". People who participate in them do so voluntarily. Some of them are collectors, others sew their own uniforms and costumes, which reproduce historical costumes. Veliko Tarnovo's brunch of the club "Tradition" has assumed the care of the monument "Mother Bulgaria". Each year its members put new bayonets of the soldiers around the monument, because the old are constantly being stolen. Until now, no catch malefactor... The people of Varban Minev with their own efforts worked out and maintain also the Bulgarian flags relics. Among them are the Samara Flag of Filip Totyu, Hadji Dimitar and Stefan Karadja the First Tarnovo revolutionary district, 18 Infantry Regiment Etarski army unit.
This year, on March 22nd, Club "Tradition" was awarded Veliko Tarnovo's award. In the municipality, its members marched with flags, shouting "Long live Bulgaria" and stood up all present.
"Tradition" calls for national protest
The news about the arrest of the President of club "Tradition" literally exploded yesterday through the organization's Internet forums. Discussed is the idea of a national protest, in which all members of the organization, dressed in uniforms to go into several beams throughout the country and to gather in Sofia. Another idea is to start a petition to protect Varban Minev and his comrades.

"The arrests are a disgrace, we will take to court the guilty ones!
Varban is a fifth generation army officer, an army personality, it is absurd that he will cross the law!"
Q.: Mr. Dzhumaliev what is happening now with the Head of Veliko Tarnovo's Club "Tradition" Varban Minev?
A.:What I can tell you at this time (BA 14 pm) is that not only Varban, but also several people from the "Tradition" club, from different cities, have had their collections seized and they are being held by the police. Our lawyer was sent to represent "Tradition" and to take the case. At the moment, we don't even know where they are.
Q.: How would you comment on the arrests?
A.: It is a complete disgrace. I know very well the law on cultural heritage and the law of arms and ammunition. In the old law, subject to registration were weapons made by 1870, but new to 1900 are obliged to register any change in ownership.
I am definitely that their detention was illegal. The law has no definition of what exactly is the cultural value, what objects are national treasures. There is no criteria by which to determine that the law was violated . On what basis then our comrades are arrested?

A.: The first and most important thing is to free the people and to clear their names. I will not leave it and will judge those responsible for what happened. The whole country protested, when we realized that exactly Varban Minev was arrested. Everybody knows about what a person he is .
At our meetings all the members are warned to obey the laws. You know that most are collectors, but this does not automatically make them criminals. So far we have not had problems and what happened to me is disgraceful.
